Styling a Photoshoot • Sunday, September 15, 2019

Date: Sunday, Sunday, September 15, 2019
Time: 1:00 - 3:00pm
Location: Studio Birdsong
Maximum number of participants: 8

It’s hard to even imagine that for our parents and grandparents, taking photographs was a completely different experience—laborious and time-consuming. These days, we’re all photographers, expressing our unique styles through the pictures we take—selfies, Instagram accounts, Snapchat stories... Still, the demands of being a professional photographer require learning skills that involve thinking through each shot and understanding ahead of time how different shots might reveal very different perspectives on a setting or a scene.

In this workshop, we focus on the process of styling a photoshoot and the purpose behind it. Are you shooting a product you are trying to sell or aiming to inspire others with a beautiful vista? What’s the reason for the photo, which details do you want to focus on, and what angle gives you the best perspective?

As we style and shoot three different themes, we also discuss how different perspectives can make the same objects assume strikingly different characters, moods, and overall shapes.

This workshop reminds us that success often involves being aware of how our perspective changes the way we see things. By realizing there are many options for looking at a scene, a collection of objects, or even situations in our own lives, we can often unlock the power of our unique perspective on the world.

If the workshop is full or not the age range or time that works for you, please email and we will do our best to accommodate. We are adding more workshops weekly and would be happy to create another time slot when there is demand.
